In 1994, I discovered the art of leathercraft. I began creating kit designs and projects for idea sheets marketing for a major manufacturer in the craft industry. My work has been in magazines and on television numerous times on everything from local to national networks I have taught classes for designers wanting to learn the art of leather techniques. I have a passion for growing and experimenting with traditional leather techniques and the many products available.
My award-winning book, “Gorgeous Leather Crafts: 30 Projects to Stamp, Stencil, Weave & Tool” was published in 2002. Later that year, the book won the prestigious 12th annual Crafts and Craftrends TM Award of Excellence.
I started my brand as a way to create one-of-a- kind wearable leather jewelry pieces, inspired by music. I believe leather jewelry should be created with a style and life of its own for each person who wears it. Each leather creation is designed and assembled exclusively by me, with every detail at heart. The leather is hand-selected, dyed, layered, sculpted (and on some occasions embossed) with specific impressions to adorn the surface. Each custom piece has gemstones, beads, African trade beads and additional treasures and adornments perfectly embellishing the leather.
I also enjoy collaborating with talented artisans who create colorful and unique focal pieces or beads. By adding these unique items to my jewelry designs, along with the culturally mixed beads and embellishments I collect, I feel that I am able to honor the past and the present with my leather jewelry collection.

International Chic with a Québécois Touch.

After years of practice, Romy has found that gently taming and suggesting shape yields the most elegant results. Even when she started small with wallets back in 1987, she always matched her meticulousness with curiosity. Travelling around the globe, she has studied various techniques and designs that have helped her cultivate a singular yet international style. Today, she has a few apprentices of her own and spends most of her time crafting with them in her Montréal studio. She still makes time to learn new techniques and exhibits at tradeshows all around the world.
